Hoops Springs Eternal - The Global Challenge

  • Be one of the 5 million people across the world to break a World Record
  • Want to part of something truly amazing in your local community that will have a global impact?
  • Want to help young people build a future?
  • Make up a team of 2 people of more from your school, community group, or company
  • Or just go it alone!
  • Contact the Fitness Centre Reception on reception@ymcahornsey.org.uk, or on 020 8340 6088 (and choose Option 1) to register your interest. You will be asked to state your preferred time-slot. Otherwise all of the information you require is on this page.
  • Download a hard copy sponsor form here and start collecting sponsors. When you have collected the money, please bring a copy of the completed sponsor from, together with a cheque made payable to ‘Hornsey YMCA’ and either send it or bring it in to ‘Hoops Springs Eternal’, The Fitness Centre Reception, Hornsey YMCA, 184 Tottenham Lane, N8 8SG by 16th November 2012
  • OR raise money on-line. You can create your own fundraising page. Go to JustGiving.com. It is safe and simple; you don’t have to go around collecting names and money, and sending off cheques! All you need to do is email a link to your Just Giving page to your friends, watch while the donations come in, and keep your friends updated with how you are progressing.

    3. Use Just Giving then send Hornsey YMCA any collected donations, including any Gift AidJust Giving Logo which clicks through to the website.
  • There are PRIZES to be WON for the top fundraiser, the person who shoots the highest number of hoops in 2 minutes (with separate prizes for boys and girls, men and women), and maybe even some spot prizes. Watch this space!
MAKE A DONATION, to support young people to build a future

  • You can text a donation of £1, £2, £3, £5 or £10. For example, to make a donation of £10, text ‘HOOP12 £10’ to 70070

It’s that simple.

Supporting vulnerable children and young people - What you will be raising funds for
Hornsey YMCA provides a vast array of services for the benefit of vulnerable children, young people and families in Haringey and Barnet.
  • An affordable programme of fitness activities for young people, elderly people and those recovering from injury and ill health – just £25 will be pay for a specialist GP referral consultation for 1 hour for someone recovering from a stroke/living with HIV/other.
  • Affordable childcare and a vibrant arts and sporting children’s programme that can assist young and single parents to return to work or training – just £47.50 will pay for 1 after school place for 1 week.
  • Employment support, advice and training opportunities for young people not in education, training or work– just £50 could pay for 1 specialist support worker for 1 hour to enable a young person to realise their potential, and secure a positive future.
  • Hostel accommodation for young homeless people aged 18-30 years – just £100 is enough to provide 1 bed space for 1 night for a young person fleeing from domestic violence or prostitution.
  • Positive activities such as sports, personal development and community programmes to disaffected young people, using peer mentors to champion the needs of young people - Just £200 is enough to train a Peer Mentor to mentor young people and divert them from gang, gun and knife crime.
